When updating or installing packages, conda gives an error message like:
Error: Unable to remove files for package: < package-name>
Follow these options to resolve the error:
- Before you update or install any packages with conda, terminate any running Anaconda processes such as Spyder or IPython. Running processes have a file lock that prevents other programs from accessing it, and this will resolve the error.
- Close all processes running code from conda.
- If that does not resolve the error, you can force the install of the package with:
conda install --force package-name
